Camp Internet Teacher TrainingWhat Teachers Learn Summer
and Fall Live Sessions
The first step in bringing new technology into the classroom is to develop a positive foundation for each teacher's familiarity and comfort with important new teaching tools. Camp Internet offers a library of original, standards-compliant resources, helps educators learn to use tools that bring this great content to life, and gives students empowering ways to interact with the content, shape it, and learn to present their own research and work online. Our program meets 22 of the national standards for technology proficiency and over 90% of the national and state standards for content. It can be daunting for a teacher to look at new technology as an unfamiliar and impersonal piece of equipment that one has to learn to 'drive'. They are already very busy in their classroom - do they "even have 'time' to introduce a new learning environment?" they may ask. Camp Internet understands teachers' needs to find a way to make the technology experience more accessible, meaningful, user friendly, and infused right into their curriculum. To help teachers gain the skills they need to teach in the 21st Century Classroom, Camp Internet focuses teachers' attention on compelling learning 'destinations' enriched by resources not available anywhere else - not in their library nor online from any other source. The fact that they learn to 'drive' along the way happens naturally when their sights are set on accessing compelling content and innovative interactive learning activities. Camp Internet seeks to spark a fire in the minds and hearts of teachers. We are here to demonstrate a safe and reliable way to bring online content to teachers and students that serves as much, much more than an e-book for the classroom. Our Campers "Turn Technology into Learning!" Camp teachers do not need to learn to code in HTML, they do not need to master any difficult technology skills. All they need to be a success is to be able to read, write, use a keyboard, and have a willingness to explore! We will help them turn those skills into online teaching techniques that will captivate student attention, improve learning, and raise test scores! Schools and Districts that opt to send their teachers to Camp Internet's live training - or libraries and afterschool programs who send program leaders to training - will be providing a professional development opportunity that is unmatched nationwide. Teachers and program leaders are invited to participate in a face-to-face learning community 3-day session and will come away with the confidence to immediately implement Camp as a new teaching tool with their students. Remember - the more teachers or program leaders a school or district, afterschool or library subscriber sends, the lower the cost per participant for these great training sessions.
