Briefing
December
1-8, 2003
Ancient Archaeoastronomy is our Special Feature for December
Come learn about the ancient heavens by doing virtual field trips to observatories around the world. From rugged medicine wheels on the open plains of the United States to complex astronomical devices in India, Those-Who-Came-Before-Us have been studying the stars since the dawn of human time. To participate in this activity, join us in the CAMPWIDE DIG room.
We also invite you to watch the heavens this month and to assign students different constellations to search for and identify with their families at home. The CAMPWIDE FIELD REPORTS room will be open for posting star or constellation sightings all month so invite your students to study a start chart in the classroom, go our and identify a constellation at night, and come back in to report on their findings.
Special December Events
December 11th we are opening the Camp Archaeoastronomy Center for a day-long and evening session inviting guests from around the world to participate. You can schedule a Family Night for that date, or bring fellow teachers online to try out these fun learning activities. See the Fall newsletter for details at
